You can try your persuasion on her. After the cutscene between them, look to your left for the next quest, down by the lake.
Speak to Elora and ask her about the halla. If you have any points in Survival, you can examine and calm the halla. If not, which is more likely as Survival is a pretty useless Skill to waste points on, you will be of no help and the quest will immediately complete. Head back into the camp and find the merchant, Varathorn. Speak with him and ask what he does. You can offer to find him some ironbark, so do so and agree.
You should have more than enough money to purchase them both — use them as soon as you can to give yourself more attributes and an extra Skill. Open it for a Love Letter. The final quest will be across the camp from Varathorn. Find and speak to Athras. Agree to help him and then head to the Brecilian Forest. Take a right, down the hill. Walk over to it, switch to a bow on your main character and interact with the Firing Point.
Quickly switch back to your main weapon and kill the mercenaries. The mercenary leader will have a Folded Missive on him, so make sure to pick it up. Head back down to the path and continue onwards until you pass under a fallen tree overhead.
Head towards the waterfall for a cutscene. Tell them you are not with the Dalish and you will have a chance to intimidate them. Speak against the Dalish when able to. You will be attacked by more wolves. As you speak to him he will pass out. Go back to the waterfall and continue onwards - this time following the path across the small river. Head up the hill to meet them, then kill them off. Head towards it and interact with the fallen tree to receive the Ironbark for the Dalish merchant. Do not continue down this path, instead head down the slope between the two hills off to the right. Speak to him. Ask him about his boon when he mentions it and agree to look for it. While these foes aren't necessarily difficult to deal with on their own, the fact that they come in such a large group means you're going to have your hands full here Your best bet is to concentrate on one or two targets exclusively in order to thin their ranks.
Once two or so have fallen, you're free to take out the rest of the group rather easily. Comb their bodies, once the fight is over, for coin and pelt. You may also find some naturally-growing herbs in your vicinity. As for the random Halla running around here, we have no explanation for you. B : You'll find what appears to be a crippled or non-aggressive Werewolf at this location, one who didn't partake in the fight you just survived at location A.
